I created this during a really dark time in my life. I had finished a book about elephant massacres just a few weeks before. I was really lonely, had no friends and was in a miserable relationship. I felt (and still do feel) a lot for the elephants who are slaughtered for their tusks. They are highly intelligent and highly communal - when they sense danger the adults encircle the young and the weak so the poachers easily kill many within a matter of minutes. I feel that this drawing has a piece of my soul and the anguish that I felt at that time.

All proceeds from the sale of this card go to the Sheldrick Wildilife Trust, a sanctuary for elephants and rhinos and orphanage for the victims of these poachers.
